As the rising talent continues to navigate his path in Formula 1, questions about his long-term place on the grid are growing stronger than ever. Oliver Bearman has made it clear that he is not interested in being involved in Formula 1’s transfer speculation unless the discussion involves a possible future move to Ferrari.

The young British driver has been linked with potential opportunities elsewhere after impressive performances with Haas, but he admits that a Ferrari seat is unlikely to become available in the near future.

Ferrari’s current driver lineup appears stable, with Charles Leclerc recently committing his future to the team through a long-term contract extension. Meanwhile, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton has also insisted that retirement is not something he is considering at this stage.

As a result, Bearman understands that his dream move to Ferrari may require patience.

The 21-year-old joined the Ferrari Driver Academy in 2022 and quickly became one of the most highly regarded young talents connected to the Italian team.

His breakthrough moment arrived in 2024 when he made his Formula 1 debut for Ferrari at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Bearman was called up unexpectedly after Carlos Sainz was unable to compete due to illness.

Despite having limited preparation time, the British rookie delivered an impressive performance. Driving the Ferrari SF-24, he finished seventh and scored championship points on his very first Formula 1 appearance.

Later that season, Bearman earned another point when he stepped in for Kevin Magnussen at Ferrari-powered Haas during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Those performances increased expectations around his future and confirmed his potential as a long-term Formula 1 contender.

When Bearman became a full-time Formula 1 driver, his first season brought both promising moments and challenges. He managed to outperform experienced teammate Esteban Ocon in the championship standings, finishing with 41 points compared with Ocon’s 38.

However, his rookie campaign was also marked by several mistakes as he adapted to the demands of top-level racing.

At one stage, Bearman came close to receiving a race ban after collecting too many penalty points. One of his most notable incidents occurred at the British Grand Prix, where he entered the pit lane during a red flag period and lost control of the car.

Despite those early struggles, Bearman has shown significant improvement in the following season. During the current campaign, he has established himself as Haas’ leading driver, building an advantage over Ocon in the team’s internal battle.

His strong performances have naturally created speculation that he could be ready for a promotion to Ferrari.

However, the biggest obstacle is that Ferrari currently has no available seat.

Leclerc remains committed to the team, while Hamilton’s recent return to competitive form has strengthened his position. The British legend secured his first Grand Prix victory in Ferrari colours at the Barcelona Grand Prix, a result that further increased confidence in his future with the team.

For Bearman, Hamilton’s success is not frustrating. Instead, he sees it as something special to witness, particularly as a fellow British driver.

Speaking on the F1 Beyond The Grid podcast, Bearman praised Hamilton’s achievements and described his Barcelona victory as a memorable moment for British motorsport.

“As a Formula 1 fan and also as a Lewis fan, it is incredible to see him performing at this level,” Bearman said.

He highlighted the significance of seeing three British drivers on the podium and Hamilton standing on the top step as one of the greatest drivers in Formula 1 history.

Although Hamilton’s continued success may reduce Bearman’s immediate chances of joining Ferrari, the Haas driver insists he is not in a rush.

At only 21 years old, Bearman believes he still has plenty of time to develop and learn before making the next major step in his career.

He explained that remaining with Haas is not necessarily a disadvantage because the team provides him with valuable experience and opportunities to grow.

“I’m still young. I’m only 21. I don’t need to rush,” Bearman said.

He added that there is still much more he wants to achieve with Haas before thinking about a future move.

While he remains committed to his current team, Bearman has also been honest about his ultimate ambition.

His long-term goal is still to become a Ferrari Formula 1 driver.

“My goal is to be a Ferrari driver one day,” he admitted.

However, he also understands that waiting too long for an opportunity could carry risks. Formula 1 careers are unpredictable, and drivers must make decisions that maximise their chances of competing for victories and championships.

Bearman explained that his ultimate ambition is not simply to drive for Ferrari because of the name and history, but because he wants the opportunity to compete for world championships.

“If I have the chance to fight for titles somewhere, I will take that opportunity,” he said.

The young Briton has also been linked with Aston Martin, particularly if two-time world champion Fernando Alonso decides to leave the team in the future.

However, Bearman played down those rumours and insisted that his focus remains connected to Ferrari.

He explained that Ferrari has supported him since the early stages of his career, beginning when he was competing in Formula 3.

According to Bearman, his relationship with Ferrari is extremely important because the team gave him the opportunity to develop and eventually reach Formula 1.

“For me, Ferrari is the dream team,” he said.

He added that Ferrari’s appeal goes beyond his personal connection with the organisation because of its unique history and status as one of the most iconic brands in global sport.

Although he acknowledged that Aston Martin has the potential to become a very competitive team in the future, he said that joining them is not currently his priority.

“Aston Martin are going through a difficult period, but I’m sure they can become very strong one day,” Bearman explained.

However, he made clear that his current focus is continuing his development with Haas while waiting for the right opportunity.

For now, Bearman’s path appears straightforward: continue improving, gain experience, and remain ready if Ferrari eventually comes calling.

While a move to Maranello may not happen immediately, his performances have already demonstrated why Ferrari invested in him.

At just 21 years old, Oliver Bearman has time on his side. His Ferrari dream remains alive, but he understands that success in Formula 1 requires patience, consistency, and choosing the right moment to make the next move.
