A longtime neighbor of Nancy Guthrie has come forward with new information, saying she noticed a suspicious man walking in her Tucson neighborhood roughly two weeks before the 84-year-old disappeared.

Nancy, the mother of Today show host Savannah Guthrie, has been missing since late January. Authorities believe she was abducted from her home around 2:30 a.m. on February 1. Surveillance footage released by the Pima County Sheriff’s Office shows a masked individual wearing gloves and carrying a backpack approaching her front door and appearing to tamper with the doorbell camera before it went offline.

Now, Aldine Meister, who has lived in the Catalina Foothills area for nearly three decades, says she saw a man in the neighborhood who struck her as unusual. Speaking to Fox News Digital, she described him as younger and not dressed in typical walking attire. According to Meister, he wore a hat pulled down low over his eyes and “didn’t look like he was going out for a walk.”

She said the man was near an intersection that leads toward Nancy’s home and that she had never seen him before — nor has she seen him since. Although the encounter left her uneasy, Meister initially only mentioned it to her husband and did not report it to police at the time. It was only after Nancy’s disappearance became public that she shared the information with investigators.

“He just didn’t fit,” Meister said, emphasizing that his presence seemed out of place in the usually quiet residential area.

Investigators have been casting a wide net as they piece together a timeline of events. Authorities have asked neighbors to review home security footage not only from the night Nancy vanished, but also for the entire month of January. In particular, they have shown interest in footage from the evening of January 11, as well as the hours spanning January 31 into February 1.

Another resident, Michele Young, told Fox News Digital that investigators visited her home multiple times — including joint visits by FBI agents and sheriff’s deputies — and mentioned January 11 specifically during at least one of those conversations. Meister also recalled being asked about that date, though she could not pinpoint exactly when she saw the suspicious man. She believes it was sometime after January 8, when she had houseguests, and at least two weeks prior to Nancy’s suspected abduction. “It could’ve been the 11th,” she acknowledged.

There has also been discussion about images released from Nancy’s doorbell camera. Some observers speculated that one still image — which appears to show the suspect without a backpack or visible holstered weapon — may have been taken on a different day than the others. However, Sheriff Chris Nanos addressed that theory publicly, stating that the images have no associated timestamps and that any claims they were captured on separate days are purely speculative.

The investigation remains active, with authorities continuing to analyze surveillance footage, interview neighbors, and examine any potentially relevant sightings. As law enforcement works to determine whether the man seen by Meister is connected to Nancy’s disappearance, officials are urging anyone with additional information — no matter how minor it may seem — to come forward.

For now, the reported sighting adds another layer to a complex case that has gripped the Tucson community, as the search for Nancy Guthrie continues.
