Bodycam Footage Reveals Arrest of 49ers Owner Jed York During Ohio Police Sting

Newly released body-camera footage has brought renewed attention to the arrest of San Francisco 49ers owner and CEO Jed York during an undercover police operation in Ohio.

The footage reportedly shows officers approaching York at a mobile-home community before taking him into custody. The incident occurred after authorities say York responded to an online advertisement posted as part of a prostitution investigation.

The footage shows officers questioning him about why he was at the location.

When asked what he was doing there, York reportedly answered that he was simply driving around. Officers then questioned him about whether he was meeting somebody, to which he denied that he was.

The questioning continued as officers sought to establish why he had arrived at the mobile-home park.

Officers Place York in Handcuffs

As the encounter progressed, officers placed York in handcuffs and escorted him toward a police vehicle.

One officer asked whether York was from the surrounding area. York reportedly answered affirmatively, explaining that he was local.

The officer then questioned whether he was simply driving around East Palestine, and York again gave a brief affirmative response.

He was subsequently placed in the back seat of a police cruiser. The vehicle door was closed while officers continued their investigation.

Some of the conversations between officers in the released footage have reportedly been redacted, meaning portions of the audio are unavailable.

Cash Found Inside Rental Vehicle

During the investigation, officers searched the rental vehicle York had been using.

According to reports, police discovered $160 in cash inside the vehicle. The money was ultimately seized and later transferred to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force as part of the legal resolution.

The discovery became one of the pieces of evidence considered during the case.

The footage also reportedly indicates that the officers did not initially appear to recognize York as the high-profile sports executive connected to the 49ers.

One officer was heard describing him to a colleague as a real-estate businessman with significant financial resources.

That exchange reportedly occurred while officers were attempting to establish more information about York and his background.

Police Find Multiple Phones

Another important part of the investigation involved York’s mobile phones.

After York was transported away from the scene, an officer returned to the rental vehicle and reportedly discovered two phones.

One of the devices reportedly displayed a photograph of York’s two sons as its background.

Investigators also examined another device that was allegedly used to communicate with the person York believed he was meeting.

According to court documents, authorities concluded that York had possession of a cellphone that had allegedly been used to arrange the encounter.

An officer reportedly sent a message to the phone and examined some of the communications associated with the investigation.

Those messages became part of the evidence used by prosecutors.

Original Charge Was Changed

York was initially accused of engaging in prostitution.

However, prosecutors ultimately amended that charge as part of the resolution of the case.

The prostitution allegation was changed to a misdemeanor disorderly-conduct charge. York also faced a separate charge involving possession of criminal tools.

Rather than contesting the case at trial, York ultimately pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor offenses.

He was sentenced to one day in jail for the charges, with the sentences served concurrently. Because he had already spent one day in custody following his arrest, he received credit for time served.

He was also ordered to pay a total fine of $1,150.

Court records reportedly indicate that one of his phones was eventually returned to him. He also completed an online course connected with the resolution of the case.

With the plea entered and sentence imposed, the criminal proceedings have effectively been concluded.

York’s Personal Life Also Under Scrutiny

The arrest came at a particularly sensitive period in York’s personal life.

Earlier in 2026, York filed for divorce from his wife, Danielle. The filing reportedly cited irreconcilable differences.

The couple married in 2011 and have two sons, Jaxon and Brixton.

According to reports, York and Danielle have agreed to share both legal and physical custody of their children. Their divorce case, however, was still awaiting a court date according to reporting from the San Francisco Chronicle.
