Less than an hour after Mackenzie Shirilla was arrested in connection with a crash that killed two young men, her father stormed into a police station demanding answers, insisting officers had no right to question his daughter and repeatedly attempting to intervene in the investigation.

Newly obtained body camera footage offers a tense glimpse into the moments that followed Mackenzie’s arrest in November 2022, revealing a confrontation between Steven Shirilla and officers at the Strongsville Police Department as authorities prepared to process the teenager into custody.

The footage, obtained by PEOPLE, captures Steven arriving at the station visibly upset and immediately attempting to assert control over the situation. His primary concern, according to the video, was ensuring that his daughter did not speak with investigators without legal representation.

The exchange has resurfaced amid renewed public interest in Mackenzie’s case following the release of the Netflix documentary The Crash, which has brought fresh attention to one of Ohio’s most controversial criminal cases in recent years.

At the center of the case is Mackenzie Shirilla, who was convicted in 2023 of intentionally crashing her vehicle into a brick building at nearly 100 miles per hour, killing her boyfriend, Dominic Russo, and their friend, Davion Flanagan.

The fatal crash occurred during the early morning hours of July 31, 2022, in Strongsville, Ohio, a suburb located south of Cleveland.
