Yet on June 26—the day Melissa vanished—her vehicle was nowhere to be seen.

Another unusual detail involves what police believe may have been Melissa’s last confirmed appearance on surveillance video.

According to investigators, the footage came from a home located along State Road 518.

Police reports indicate the homeowner provided surveillance recordings after an acquaintance of Melissa’s husband informed authorities about the possible sighting.

The video allegedly showed Melissa walking in front of the residence.

However, investigators encountered another unexpected complication while reviewing the recording.

The surveillance system displayed a timestamp of June 27, 2025, at approximately 4:16 a.m.

Police concluded that the home’s security system had been set incorrectly.

According to the report, investigators calculated that the actual recording time was June 26 at approximately 2:18 p.m.

The reports do not explain how investigators determined the surveillance system was off by exactly 13 hours and 58 minutes.

Nor do they describe what independent evidence was used to verify the corrected timestamp.

It is entirely possible that the homeowner’s camera simply displayed the wrong date and time, something investigators encounter regularly when reviewing private surveillance systems.

Even so, the reports provide little explanation regarding how detectives confirmed the precise adjustment.
