The suspect, identified by Middlesex County District Attorney Marian T. Ryan as 32-year-old Tyler Brown, allegedly walked down the middle of Memorial Drive firing shots at random vehicles Monday afternoon before being confronted by a Massachusetts State Police trooper and an armed civilian described as a former Marine.

Massachusetts State Police said troopers first responded around 1:20 p.m. Monday after receiving reports involving a shooting and law enforcement response near Memorial Drive.

Shortly afterward, Cambridge Police Department officers were also dispatched to the scene following reports of multiple gunshots.

According to investigators, the incident may have begun when Boston police alerted nearby agencies about an armed man who was allegedly behaving erratically.
